We've seen a lot of cute scallop trim for fall, but put a bunch of em on top of each other and you have a lovely scale effect...I think that scales just might be the new wood grain. This execution by Kcoline is pretty excellent, but so is the rest of her etsy store.

PRACTICAL AND BEAUTIFUL VINYL WALL STICKERS

We've seen similar ideas floating around, but these stickers speak to me in light of my growing jewelry junkyard.   Domestic has some incredible non-practical wall art as well--much more witty and interesting stuff than I've seen elsewhere. 

ANTOINE + MANUEL = ROCKING MY WORLD

I can't help but love this cabinet by Antoine + Manuel.  It reminds me of my mother's korean black lacquer furniture with mother of pearl inlay that she received from her parents as a wedding gift before coming to America.  There's a great article in the Korea Times about this lacquer ware technique. 

DIY DELPHINE HAT by LOVE, GINGER

I love the idea behind this hat--a remake of a 20s aesthetic head piece, but paired down just enough for us kids to wear it.   Here is Love, Ginger's etsy page.

These guys have made some excellent collage-like jewelry.  I really love how they coordinate color within each variation of this octopus piece.  Checkit.

DORM ROOMS I WOULD LOOOVE TO MOVE INTO

caroline hansen, mie albæk nielsen, stine osther and rikke k. larsen added some color to the usual drabness of dorm living. I like the resourseful use of ordinary desk organizer boxes as shelving. it's also cool to see women forming creative collectives--these guys formed Nervous in the Service. yay!

NAIL ART MADNESS: FRIDA KAHLO and GUCCI

Ok, someone did a portrait of Frida Kahlo on their nail, and changed my life forever. I've been loving nail art for some time now, especially after this recent post in PingMag. There's also some pretty cool Gucci nails up at Nails magazine.

They're like a breath of fresh air, and a throwback to the heartfelt folk singers of the 60s and 70s.  I also love their message--they describe their sound as "the original sound of love!"  And that translates to some darn feel good music.

PUCCI'S MANNEQUINS by ANNA SUI

These are now on sale at Anna Sui -- she did them for Pucci back in 97' (can you believe that's 10 years ago?!) Here's the link

From their description: The mannequins retain Anna's original details: lace chokers, beauty marks, eye patches, Sally Bowles-hair styles and lavender and pale green skin. Little-known fact: actress/model Michele Hicks posed for the sculptor who developed the body of the Pucci/Anna Sui mannequin.
